Dr. Robert Henderson
A native of Birmingham, he received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering (magna cum laude) from the University of Alabama in 1995. He graduated from The University of South Alabama Medical School in Mobile as a member of the AOA Honor Medical Society while under academic scholarship. His Dermatology residency was completed at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. There, Dr. Henderson developed a genuine passion for medical and surgical dermatology under world-renowned professors. His research has been published in Journal of American Academy of Dermatology among other prestigious academic journals. He and his wife have two children.
Dr. Henderson has special interests in dermatologic manifestations of autoimmune and connective tissue diseases. As the founder of Shelby Dermatology, he strives to deliver the best diagnostic and management skills for all skin problems and diseases with a heart of compassion and understanding for his patients.
Dr. Gregory Bourgeois
Dr. Gregory Bourgeois was born and raised in South Louisiana where he graduated summa cum laude from Louisiana State University in Biological Sciences. He obtained his MD from UAB School of Medicine. After completing an Internship in Internal Medicine at Baptist Health System in Birmingham, he returned home for his Dermatology residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans where he served as Chief Resident. During residency he was awarded an American Society for Dermatologic Surgery preceptorship to perform concentrated study in laser and cosmetic dermatology under renowned surgical dermatologists in Boston. He has had research published in many prestigious dermatology journals and has presented dermatologic research at numerous academic meetings. Dr. Bourgeois is trained in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology with special interest in using lasers to treat a variety of skin conditions. He and his wife have four children.
Dr. Marian Northington
Dr. Marian Northington grew up in Florence, Alabama and graduated from University of Alabama summa cum laude with a major in biology and minor in psychology. She then graduated from University of Alabama at Birmingham with AOA honors. After completing an internship in internal medicine at UAB, she then completed a dermatology residency at UAB. Dr. Northington was accepted into a highly distinguished fellowship in San Diego with one of the world's most innovative, talented cosmetic dermatologists and laser surgeons, Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick. Dr. Northington was able to spend a year with Dr. Fitzpatrick and his colleagues to develop her expertise in laser resurfacing, laser treatments for vascular and pigmented lesions, injectables such as soft tissue fillers, and botulinum toxin, Mohs surgery and other dermatologic surgery and liposuction. Dr. Northington moved back to Alabama after the fellowship and returned to UAB as the Director of Cosmetic Dermatology. She was able to teach and give national lectures on cosmetic dermatologic procedures during her academic career.
